One Room Challenge - Week One

I'm so excited to participate in The One Room Challenge for the first time this spring! I have loved following along as some of my favorite Instagram accounts transform their rooms and can't wait to join them this time as I makeover our dining room.

Our dining room has not seen much love since we moved in three years ago. It was bubblegum pink when we moved in and we painted it Window Pane from Sherwin Williams and hung a lantern style light fixture from our old house. I will be keeping the table, sideboard and Dayna chairs from Ballard Designs but recovering them in a fun new fabric.

Here is my design board as of now, I still have a few decisions to make like what colors for the chinoiserie panels and I can't wait to include y'all in the process. My inspiration for the color scheme came from my grandmother's Rose Medallion plate collection that I'll be hanging on one wall.

I'm pulling the pink and oranges out for the chair cushions and drapes and then tying in the aquas and greens with a pair of chinoiserie panels. Grasscloth is going to go above the chair rail and below it will be white moulding. I'm hoping to paint the ceiling a very faint pinky peach to add a warm glow to the grasscloth, but my client..err husband is not on board with this quite yet! And the icing on the cake will be the beautiful Alberto Chandelier from Julie Neil for Visual Comfort that I've had my eye on for a while.

Over the next eight weeks, I will be documenting the design process and progress as the room begins to take shape. I'm excited to take on some DIY projects like adding moulding below the chair rail and recovering the chairs. I can't wait to see how it unfolds and hope y'all will follow along!

And please go check out all the other talented participants. at www.oneroomchallenge.com/orc-blog
